CULTURAL CENTER ANNOUNCES NAME CHANGE AND EXPANDED SCOPE

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA ( October 5th, 2019) —During its first Community Fall Festival celebrating cultural history, presented by The African American Cultural Center In Virginia Beach’s, with over 500 in attendance, Center President Bruce Williams announced that the Center’s board had voted last month to change the center’s name. The center’s new name is The Virginia African American Cultural Center, Inc., Virginia Beach.  The change reflects an expansion of the center’s focus on the historical and cultural African American assets of the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach and Princess Anne County...

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (August 26, 2019) — The public is invited to attend a free Community Fall Festival celebrating cultural history, featuring family fun and uplifting entertainment on the site of the future home of  the African American Cultural Center on the corner of Newtown Road and Hampshire Way Saturday October 5th, 2019 from 12 noon to 4 pm.  The festival will include viewing of the public art installation, “Portraits from a Place of Grace” by Richard Hollant,  clothing designers, artists, story teller's, games, exhibits, food trucks and other attractions...

Local and Out of Town Artists Scheduled to Perform

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA ( September 24, 2019) — The free Community Fall Festival celebrating cultural history, hosted by the African American Cultural Center's entertainment lineup and features was announced today. The entertainment being offered on Saturday, October 5th from noon to 4 pm will include performances by ; Bradfatt, Dani Deneur, Teens With A Purpose, the Mosaic Steel Band, poetess Rita Jones, The Phenomenal Sounds Band, choirs from Ebenezer and Enoch Baptist Churches, NSU African Dance Group, Mitchell Easter, Queen, Afro-Brazilian Zumba and King Yikimi...
