Great Plans In the Works

The work has just begun, and the vision is enormous. Find out all about our Cultural Center and the incredible plans that are underway.

The AACC hired Webb Management, Inc. to complete a thorough feasibility study of the Cultural Center and its impact on the community.  In November 2017, they produced a final report of their findings, which was presented to the Virginia Beach City Council.  

Conceptual Site Plan and Building Spaces

•25,000 square foot building

 

• Meeting rooms and cultural learning classrooms for Visual,            Performing and Literary Arts

 

• Multipurpose Hall (banquet/auditorium) with commercial kitchen

 

• Exhibits and exhibit spaces

 

• Offices and Restrooms

 

• Souvenir shop

 

• Outdoor Activity areas and public art

• Walking trails

• 90 parking spaces

• Natural Areas

• Relocated courts

• Buffer active areas from Cultural Center

• Preserve trees, replace trees removed

• Improved pedestrian connections

 

• Use entrance on Newtown Road

An African American Cultural Center is expected to go up in Virginia Beach. Project leaders came together to "bless" the land the building will be on in the near future. It's at the intersection of Newtown Road and Diamond Springs Road.
